A useful fit for

Small portions needing both reheating and hot-air cooking.

The main tradeoff

Its microwave has 700 W output and a 0.6-cu.-ft. cavity, and the different modes need deliberate accessory handling.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can it replace both my microwave and air fryer?

It documents both functions plus convection baking, but they share a small 0.6-cu.-ft. cavity and one cooking schedule. Check whether your real meals need batching or simultaneous appliances.

Why is the microwave wattage lower than the oven rating?

700 W is microwave cooking output. The 1,500 W AirFry/Oven rating belongs to another heat source, and microwave input is separately 1,150 W. Do not interchange those values.

Can its basket stay inside when I microwave a bowl?

No. The booklet restricts the air-fry basket from microwave mode. Follow the exact accessory and material rules whenever switching between heat sources.

The Cuisinart AMW-60 is a small combination appliance for someone who wants microwave reheating, convection baking and air frying from one counter position. Its key compromise is easy to miss: the microwave is a 700-watt, 0.6-cu.-ft. design. It should be chosen for useful hot-air cooking as well as microwaving, not mistaken for a roomy family microwave with bonus modes.

Start with the small cooking space

A 0.6-cu.-ft. cavity changes which meals make sense. A snack bowl and a portion of frozen food are different from a tall covered casserole. Cuisinart lists a rotating glass tray and separate air-fry basket and bake/drip pan. The actual usable arrangement changes by mode, so one headline capacity does not describe every cooking task. Before buying, identify the tray or dish you would use most often. Include handles and a lid when checking fit. For air frying, think about the area food needs in the basket rather than just its weight. If the food must be piled high to fit, the advertised versatility may lead to more batching than your routine can comfortably accommodate.

Three jobs share one appliance

The AMW-60 documents microwave, convection and air-fry operation. Cuisinart gives 700 watts for microwave output and 1,500 watts for AirFry/Oven functions. Those are different heating systems, not two alternative microwave-output figures. The booklet separately lists 1,150-watt microwave electrical input. Exact AMW-60 instruction and recipe booklet.

This design is useful when you want a small baked or crisped meal without allocating a second counter position. It is less convenient if you need the microwave while the oven is already occupied. Consider a real dinner: can you finish the hot-air food and then reheat the side dish in the same cavity, or do you need both functions available at once?

A dial-led interface needs a short learning period

The controls combine function buttons with a selector dial. The manual covers time and temperature adjustment for oven cooking, microwave power and presets, defrost, stage cooking and combination cooking. Someone who likes a dial may appreciate that arrangement. Someone expecting a conventional number pad should inspect how an exact time or portion is entered.

Learn one routine in each mode before attempting more involved combinations. It helps to know which display value you are changing: temperature, power, time or portion. The presence of many settings is useful only when you can confidently distinguish them. A shared kitchen benefits from storing mode-specific accessories where the next user can tell what belongs inside.

Accessory rules are part of the purchase decision

The booklet warns that the air-fry basket is not for microwave mode. That is an important handling difference from an ordinary microwave where the tray normally stays in place. Use the material and accessory guidance for the selected mode rather than assuming that an item safe in convection is also safe with microwave energy.

After hot-air cooking, the cavity and accessories may be hot. Leave a suitable landing area and use appropriate protection when removing food. A model that saves appliance count can still require extra care and storage space for its rack, pan or basket. If your household is unlikely to follow that routine, a simpler microwave and a separate air fryer may be easier to live with.

Its height is not the required overhead space

Cuisinart publishes a body approximately 17.9 inches wide, 14.4 deep and 13.8 high. Its setup instructions require twelve inches above and at least three inches to adjacent walls. Do not place it under a low shelf simply because its width looks small. The instructions supplied with the exact unit should decide the final position.

Mark the footprint and then plan for opening the door, removing a hot pan and setting it down. A counter with no landing space beside the oven is awkward even if ventilation is adequate. Also inspect the power route: the highest function number in the advertisement is not enough information to choose a safe electrical arrangement.

Know what the microwave portion will not do for you

The exact reviewed material does not establish sensor reheating, inverter power delivery or a mute option. Automatic food presets do not prove a humidity sensor. For a portion with directions written for a more powerful microwave, expect to follow the food manufacturer's adjustment advice and check heating carefully rather than reuse a familiar shorter timing.

Cuisinart identifies the AMW-60 as discontinued. That makes this an earlier-model reference and a comparison for a specific offer, not a claim that every retailer carries a current unit. Verify the model, supplied accessories and condition, particularly because missing mode-specific parts can reduce the very versatility that justified choosing it.

How it should respond to your answers

The AMW-60 should be considered when you select microwave plus browning or oven cooking, prepare small portions and are comfortable with dial-led mode selection. It should fall back when you need large dinnerware, high microwave output, documented sensor or mute, or very limited overhead clearance.

The strongest reason to choose it is a set of modest meals that genuinely uses its different heat sources. If almost every use would be Add Thirty Seconds on a drink, the extra cooking modes add handling and space requirements without solving your main problem.
